Learning and Support Teachers (LaST)
Our Learning and Support Teachers (LaST) play a vital role in ensuring that every student receives the assistance they need to succeed academically and socially. They work closely with classroom teachers, students, and families to provide targeted support tailored to individual learning needs.
LaST support includes:
- Individualised Assistance: Providing one-on-one or small group support for students experiencing learning difficulties or requiring additional help.
- Collaborative Planning: Working alongside classroom teachers to adapt teaching strategies and resources that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Assessment and Identification: Helping to identify students who may benefit from extra support through observations, assessments, and referrals.
- Developing Learning Plans: Creating personalised learning and support plans that set achievable goals and track student progress.
- Supporting Wellbeing: Addressing social, emotional, and behavioural needs to help students engage positively with their learning and peers.
- Liaison with Specialists: Coordinating with external professionals and agencies to provide comprehensive support when necessary.
- Professional Development: Assisting staff with training and strategies to enhance inclusive teaching practices across the school.
Our LaST team is dedicated to fostering an inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive. We encourage families to connect with our Learning and Support Teachers to discuss their child’s learning needs and how we can work together to provide the best support.
